TROY — Sidewalk improvements were the discussion at the Troy Borough council Oct. 29 meeting.
Borough manager Dan Close reported some specific sidewalks that need addressed: Elmira Street, Rockwell Drive, High Street and Fenner Ave, by the school administration building.
There is a storm drain runoff problem on Rockwell Drive and High Street.
Sidewalks are technically the responsibility of the homeowners, but council discussed the possibility of finding funding to help the owners to pay the fee to replace their sidewalks.
They plan to begin the work as soon as possible.
The part-time borough maintenance employee is being replaced by a new full-time hire, Nick Getola.
Borough Manager Close discussed the high arrears that have accrued in utility bills due to COVID. He says its important that residents pay their bill because that money goes toward running the system.
Close reported a request from Blue Ridge Cable to place a small building for their services behind C&N Bank.
He also mentioned the water wells being OK despite the recent drought anticipation, as Troy and Bradford County were in a drought watch for weeks.
The Prospect Street bridge has lines that need to be moved during upcoming work on the bridge. The bridge is to be re-done by the state in 2021 by the state.
The next two months of Troy Borough Council meetings will take place on Tuesdays instead of Thursdays, same time and place. November’s meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 3:30 p.m. and December’s meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m.
Council adjourned with the purpose of holding an executive session for police union matters.
