After the minutes and treasurer's reports were given and approved, Robyn Chamberlain gave a report on the membership committee. She requested that plaques be funded for new members. The group passed the motion for the additional funds, which will be taken from the budget.
A long discussion was held on the Chamber gift certificates which people may purchase and then the recipient takes to a local business to be redeemed for the face amount of the certificate. Some businesses did not clearly understand how they could receive their money.
Ms. Bristol explained that the business needs to notify Mrs. Elizabeth Card Bower, treasurer, and she will reimburse the business for that amount. This will be explained in the new membership packets and any business who wishes to opt out of the program may do so.
The Chamber has a goal of 1000 "Facebook likes" this year. So far the page has 712. If you want to know what is going on in Troy, this is the place your should go for updates.
Krystle also talked about Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week which is held annually in Williamsport. She wanted members to encourage a student from Troy to take part. The only fee is a $250 entry fee. Room and board is paid for. "It is a great opportunity to learn if you want to be in business for yourself, marketing, or retailing. The group has wonderful speakers brought from all over the country to speak to the students. I have applications if anyone wants one or I encourage the Troy School District to take part."
Mrs. Card-Bower presented the proposed budget for the Chamber for 2015.
The committee was thanked for a wonderful job. "We want to make sure that the Chamber has enough funds to make the annual donations and does not work in the red," said Mrs. Bristol.
Other committees who met included a combined meeting of the advertising and events committees.
They worked on events which they could take part with other Chambers, and hope to hold mixers. So far 1110 West Main is willing to host this type of event and so is Shaw's.
Under membership. It is hoped that next year the membership committee will be able to get the information out in December.
The members heard from Travis Spalding, who is the new president of the Troy Little League.
