President Larry Hall welcomed all firemen, family, friends, and guests. This was followed with Chaplain Ken Parmenter giving the invocation.
After a delicious meal of Italian chicken or prime rib, cooked and served by Lou Ann Vargson, Scott Cummings, Larry Hall, Donna May, Thad Dibble, Sherry Miller, Wendy Mosher, and Priscilla Knapp, was enjoyed, the program began.
Thad Dibble, training officer presented training certificates to the following members:
Tim Ayers, Kyle Chaapel, Dave Leitner, Adam Roberts, Ryan Vargson, Keith Ayers, Scott Cummings, Priscilla Knapp, Shaun Brown, Janna Dibble, Jason Salle,Donna May, Alan Painter, Ken Parmenter, Adam Roberts, Lou Ann Vargson, Roy Vargson, Doug Young, and Kris Wolstenholme.
President Larry Hall presented Alan Painter, Ken Parmenter, Lou Ann Vargson, Roy Vargson, and Ryan Vargson with Perfect Attendance awards.
Service awards were presented by Chief Vargson and President Hall. The following earned the awards:
10 years, Jackie and Brian Streeter; 35 years, Rich Jenkins received a citation from Rep. Matt Baker and the entire House of Rep. from the State of PA; and Al Painter; 40,Ron Krise and Larry Hll; 55 Lewis "Butch" Batterson.
Bob Bruce also received a pin, certificate and a citation from Rep. Matt Baker for his years of service. He joined the fire company in 1946 and is an honorary life member.
Kyle Chaapel earned the Most Points Award with a total of 466. They are earned by attending training sessions, incidents, meetings.
President of the Hose Company Auxiliary Bernie Hornung gave a report on the many activities of the auxiliary and how they support "our firemen".
Chief Roy Vargson took the podium and talked about the year the fire company has endured.
"It has not been easy, we lost a couple of people including a very young man."
"We don't give this award very often, but this year a brave young man from Canton, who just happens to be a police officer over there, came upon a house fire and he called it in. He also attempted to save the resident, but was unable. It is with great pride that this award is going to Trey Kurtz. We can't thank him enough for his dedication."
The Oscoluwa Fire Company members were saddened by the lost of three members in 2014.
The Fire Member of the Year Award went to Adam Roberts. It too was presented by Chief Vargson.
Scott Cummings earned the Firefighter of the Year plaque.
One gag gift was given by Ryan Vargson and it went to Thad Dibble, who "really appreciated it."
Several longtime supporters of the fire company were also acknowledged:
Jim and Vivian Hall, for their charitable donation, which helps support their goals for the next several yeas..
Also thanked were Bastion Woodworking for their many donations of beautifully crafted wood items.
Lynn Randall, for the wooden carved bear; John Kern for a wood working project; and Ron Keeney for the picnic table.
Special guests were also asked to stand and receive the applause of the group.
Mutual aid companies were also thanked. After the benediction was given, it was time to party to the music of Tom Carman.
