We certainly want to thank all the people who helped in anyway to make it happen. I won't start by trying to name each of you. You know who you are whether it was a donation of merchandise or time or bringing something old for the rest of us to look at you have our thanks.
The 2015 Edition of the Endless Mountains Tractor and Machinery Show is now for better or worse a part of history. We got through it with minimal conflict and only a few complaints which as many of us agreed late Sunday was part of the experience.

You know who you are whether it was a donation of merchandise or time or bringing something old for the rest of us to look at you have our thanks. By Esther Butcher I think we are getting enough rain. Seems like it has rained almost everyday. Our power was out during the night on Monday morning.
Travis Butcher, our grandson, brought us tickets for his graduation. Gary, Esther and April went on Friday evening at Canton. He received lots of rewards and is going on to college. Kudos to him, it was nice to see all the family. By Lorelei Colton As I sit here at the computer starting to compile the weekly column, its early Sunday evening and there is a brisk breeze coming in through the open window – acting like we’re in for a thunder storm. I hung a load of sheets out on the clothesline before I headed up to church this morning, and when I returned home I found some of them had blown off the line onto the ground. Fortunately the new-mown grass was clean and dry so nothing had to be re-washed. Ron roto-tilled the garden yesterday – it really is looking great. The green beans have jumped up out of the ground and are nearing 10 inches tall! Ron and I are reflecting on last winter’s weather and are gearing up for it by planning on canning and freezing everything we can get our hands on.
By Lois Ribovich We are looking forward to the Ralston School Reunion on Saturday. Its a chance to see old school friends.
Received a call from Ed Trent in Arizona. He was a former Canton resident and a member of the class of '55. He wanted to hear all about the 60th year get-together and wishes he could have been there. Had a visit from son Tod Ribovich and friend. Not much news this week. By Kathie Lepper I'm getting a late start today, so was happy to see so many news items in the mailbox here on "The Ridge". Thanks folks!
The ten residents at Coffee Chat Time on Thursday were saying how nice Glen Trick's vintage red sport car looks as he has been out and about with it during the car show, etc. Kinda perks things up in the parking lot. Good job, Glen. As promised, here are some heart healthy recipes. As you will notice, I did start with dessert. That is the best part of any meal, healthy or not.
These have not been tested in my kitchen due to some of the ingredients such as onions, sherry, and garlic. They are all not part of my pantry. Remember I cook simply and it still tastes good. Buffalo Valley Rail – Trail
The Buffalo Valley Rail-Trail is in Lewisburg, PA and extends 9.1 miles west to Mifflinburg. If you enjoy fine scenery and a nice walk, jog or easy biking, this is a fine trail. But wait, there is even more if you can schedule your trip for a Wednesday. By Elaine Gee Well, it's another week.
Hazel Benson was taken to the Robert Packer Hospital last week and she got home already. I talk to her about everyday. Roger came up and went down town with me this afternoon. Boy we had a nice rain this afternoon. Wednesday my great granddaughter Blaze Wood had a softball game at the fairground. Sonja came up and got me so I could watch her. As promised here are easy and quick recipes for family picnics. Spend more time enjoying this crispy chicken and less time worrying about a messy dish to clean up later by using aluminum baking pans.
By Kathie Lepper The birds here on "The Ridge" are enjoying the nice rain that we're having this morning. At least they're singing away outside my window and sound happy.
I'm off to a good start this morning, Kathy Temple put her news in the mailbox to get me going. She wrote that she and her sister Bonnie Vanemon traveled to the Philadelphia area on Thursday to attend grandparent-VIP day at Kathy's grandniece's school. The kindergarten and first grade performed several musical numbers. What a wonderful time, Kathy commented. Daughter Laura and grandson Demitris Hill from Powell called on me, Friday morning.
Vi and Ron stopped up, Monday. Judy called them Sunday and asked about Ron Slater. They were friends when he came up to the mountain. Boy we sure are having cold weather. It is a good time to stay in the house. By Charles Rockwell ![]() I'm not good on remembering names and faces. At the Mother's Day breakfast at the Catholic Church, George Kingsley was dishing out the food. I knew he was a cemetery friend of John Livezey's so I called John and his wife Mary. He was glad to hear of George. His Mary is one of my thirteen readers and she missed seeing my article. We spent the weekend in Tunhannock, PA for the annual Bluegrass Music Festival held at Lazy Brook Park. All in all it turned out to be an enjoyable four day event. We and a bunch of others experienced some power outages due to some folks not heeding the rules which clearly state no air conditioners. So what is the first thing they turn on as soon as the cord is plugged in? Yeah, that and anything else they can haul from home to make the weekend easier: electric frying pans, curling irons, coffee pots, microwaves, and other items that are necessary for "camping."
We met up with many old friends we have come to know over the years. We made a pair of new friends who were parked next to us. Terren Smith Hi, all! How was your week? This weather! How about it? I have my air conditioner turned up then down, then up, then down.
On Wednesday the Grange went to Pizza Hut to celebrate planting flowers last week in the town triangle. Not much new in town, except last year I was the first person to see Ralph and Marilyn Froelich from Florida. Once a year "The Darwin Awards" come out listing the most stupid events of the previous Year.
The Top Award 1. When his 38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, CA would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked. And now, the honorable mention 2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting machine. He submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company, expecting negligence, sent one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and also lost a finger. The chef's claim was approved. |
