A memorial service to honor Marie's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 27 at the Ward United Methodist Church, 587 Church Road, Canton. Pastor Gerald Schmidt will officiate. Willard (Bill) R. Wright Jr., 86, passed away on Saturday August 26, 2017 at his home. He was born in Auburn, NY on November 24, 1930 the son of the late Willard R Wright Sr. and Catherine Gleason Wright.
He graduated from Union Springs High School and then attended Cornell University. He was a farmer all of his life. He married Doris Best on January 21, 1961. He was a member of the Mitchellsville Methodist Church, life long member of the FFA, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Doris Wright; daughter Jackie Wright; two grandsons, Joshua Thomas Persichilli and Matthew Richard Persichilli; great grandchildren Brian, Joshua, Tyler, Maddux, Brantly and Makayla; two brothers, Robert Wright and Bernie Wright; a sister Donna Wright, and many nieces and nephews. Bill’s request was no calling hours or services. Memorials maybe made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are being handled by Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath. ![]() Margaret Vroman Bastion, 93, long-time resident of the Roaring Branch and Ralston area, was called to her heavenly home while surrounded by loved ones, August 25, 2017, from Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro. Margaret Ann, daughter of the late Francis Elmer and Helen Cecelia (Schmelzle) Collister, was born in Roaring Branch on March 3, 1924. She attended Canton High School and later earned her GED. Her last employment was with Weldon’s PJ Factory in Williamsport. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ralston and especially enjoyed times shared with family and children, her pets, reading, walking and gardening. Widowed twice, Marge married Judson James “Jim” Vroman in Macon, GA on Apr. 19, 1942, who passed away Aug. 24, 1964. She later married Arthur “Art” Bastion in Loyalsock Twp. on Feb. 2, 1966, who passed Oct. 11, 1983. Marge is survived by eight children, Dawn (Gordon) Route of Roaring Branch, Bonnie Vroman of West Burlington, James Vroman, Ralston, Russell (Bonnie) Vroman of Mansfield, Jean Takach, Canton, Mark (Linda) Vroman, Starr (Dennis) McLaughlin and Dallas (Brenda) Bastion all of Ralston; step children, Mick (Jim) Castle and Donna (Warren) Strout all of Canton, Bob (Bonnie) Bastion, East Troy, Dan (Sue) Bastion, Troy, and Sheldon (Joy) Bastion, Ogdensburg' many biological and step grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, a special friend, Robin Gardner, Linden and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. ![]() Joyce E. Reynard, 81, of Sayre, PA (formerly of Wilmington, DE) loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital. Joyce was born on March 8, 1936 in South Williamsport, PA to the late Kermit and Gladys (Grenell) Starr. She is preceded in death by her sisters Carol Cowing and Florence Reese; her brother-in-law’s Jim Cowing, Robert Reese, Jim Boyer, Max Reynard; nephews Mark Robbins, John Reynard; and niece Corrine Erwin. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Dale C. Reynard; son and daughter-in-law Ty and Sherry Reynard; her very precious grandchildren who she adored dearly Taylor and Travis Reynard; sisters, Connie Robbins (Robert), Rebekah Boyer both of Ralston, PA; sister-in-law Linda VanNess (Jerry Manchester) of Elmira, NY and Joanne Reynard of Burlington, PA; many nieces and nephews including her niece Glady Perry of Canton, PA who can’t be thanked enough for all her love and support. Joyce was a 1954 graduate of Canton High School in Canton, PA. She married Dale Reynard on August 20, 1960 and they just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. She was a Class of 1957 graduate of Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing. On Tuesday, August 22, 2017, longtime Canton resident Ronie Wayne Nelson passed away at Geisinger Medical Center.
He was 64, and the husband of Karen (nee Eckersley) Visitation will be Saturday, 2 to 4 PM at Morse and Kleese Funeral home, 94 N. Center St., Canton, with service to follow at 4 PM. (www.morseandkleesefuneralhome.com) ![]() On Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 longtime Canton resident, Ronie Wayne Nelson passed away quietly at Geisinger Medical Center, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 64 years of age. Born March 28th, 1953 in Minot, North Dakota, he was one of ten children in the family of Duane and Clarice (Sundbakken) Nelson. After graduating from high school Ron enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1972 to 1976 as a medical corpsman. While in the Navy Ron met Karen Eckersley, and on September 10th, 1978 they were married. Following his service to our country Ron earned a B.S. degree in accounting. Over the years he was employed as an accountant for the former Eastern Best Products in Canton, the Staiman Company in Williamsport and the former Orthstar Co. in Horseheads NY. Later he worked as a truck driver. He was a former member of the Canton Lions Club and the Wheel Inn Club. Ron was a soft spoken, laid back kind of person who made friends easily and was always there to lend a hand. He enjoyed the simple things in life; watching football and being with his beloved family. ![]() Steven Baldwin, 66, Forksville, PA, entered the Kingdom of Heaven, Sunday, August 20th, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born on May 15th, 1951 in Abington, PA. The beloved husband of Marcia (Henninger) Baldwin for 36 years, Steve was a devoted father to his three sons and a loving grandfather to his 13 grandchildren. He retired as a self-employed contractor who specialized in roofing, siding, and windows. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and many of the simple things in life but what he treasured most was the time spent with his family. Surviving are his wife, Marcia; three sons: Mike, Mildred, PA; Ryan (Amanda), Pflugerville, TX; and Jonathan (Jessica), Moosic, PA; grandchildren, Taylor, Savannah, Tia, Landon and Ansley (Mike); Olivia, Sophia, Joselyne, Paloma and Josue (Ryan); Connor, Aubrey and Celeste (Jonathan). Also surviving are mother, Eleanor McKeon, Douglasville, PA; sister Kathy (Larry) Jennings, Pottstown, PA; and Mike McKeon, Pottstown, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. ![]() Adelia M. Pepper, 100, Williamsport, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at her home while surrounded by love ones. Born December 11, 1916 in Troy, Adelia Marie was one of seven children in the family of the late Robert D. and Florence L. (Frost) Fitch. As a young woman, she grew up near Alba, and was a graduate of Canton High School. Adelia was a member of the Muncy Episcopal Church and in earlier years the Alba First Christian Church. Adelia’s main interest thorough out life was the love she shared with her family and home. She always enjoyed a good conversation or just visiting with family and friends. Other hobbies included crocheting and hook rugs. Surviving are her children, Marjorie Pepper of Williamsport, Nancy Patil of Montoursville, Dale (Barbara) Pepper of Muncy, four grandchildren, Ranae (Craig) Woods, Toby (Jennifer) Pepper, Steven (Nancy) Patil, James (Jennifer) Patil, several great grandchildren, a sister, Florence DeCoursey of Liberty, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara Ann "Becky" Reis, 60, of Roaring Branch, PA, passed away on Friday, Aug. 18, in the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
She was employed as a manager at TOPS Friendly Market, Canton, PA. Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Charles J. and Mildred M. (Trice) Reis. A 1974 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School, she was an Army veteran, having attained the rank of SPC4 during the Vietnam War. Surviving are two daughters, Nadia Abdelbaki, and son Landon, of Lemoyne, PA, and Cynthia N. Cauthen of Johnson City, NY; two brothers, Ronald Reis, and his wife, Debbie, and Richard Reis, and his wife Cheryl, and granddaughter, Madison Freeby, all of Jim Thorpe; a niece and a nephew. A Memorial Mass was held Aug. 26,at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 526 North St., Jim Thorpe, with the Rev. Francis J. Baransky officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Arrangements were directed by Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe. Contributions in her name may be made to Pancreatic Cancer, c/o the American Cancer Soc., P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. ![]() Norma J. Wilcox, 79, LeRoy, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by loved ones, August 10, 2017. Norma Jean was born November 13, 1937 in Boone, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Dale and Pauline (Davis) Greene. She was a 1956 graduate of Canton High School. On August 17, 1956, she married Lloyd D. Wilcox in the East Canton United Methodist Church Parsonage. Norma will be lovingly remembered as the type of person who thought of others first. She possessed a strong work ethic all her life. In early years, Norma worked at Canton’s Swayze Folding Box Company and later retired from Canford Manufacturing. Throughout her employment she also helped with the family business of Wilcox Lumber and Trucking Co. Norma especially loved times shared with her children and grandchildren, cooking, baking, gardening and taking trips to North Carolina for family reunions. She also cared about the welfare of animals and enjoyed caring for her cats and dogs. |
