Born August 11th, 1945 in Fayette, NY, he was the son of George and Agnes Ward. Larry, as he was known to all, was one of God’s special people who, despite his limitations, lived a full life with the love and guidance of family, friends and Futures Community Support Services. He enjoyed horses, bingo, bowling and participating in the Special Olympics.
On the morning of Saturday, August 15th, 2015, Lawrence E. Ward of Towanda passed away quietly at the Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Center. He was 70 years of age.

He enjoyed horses, bingo, bowling and participating in the Special Olympics. Dean Albert Walrath was born to the late Albert and Grace Walrath on April 26, 1949 in Sayre, Pa.
He graduated from S.R.U. High school in 1967 and entered the Air Force. He returned home in 1969 and established a small dairy farm named Maple Hill Farm until 1985. He then worked for Van Duzen machinery in Wilawana while attending classes at Penn College to become a Methodist pastor. He was a pastor for 19 years serving several charges including Canton, and Hunlock Creek, PA. He retired due to poor health. Surviving are brother, David Walrat, Milan, Pa.; brother-in-law, Richard Loomis, Dunnesville, Va.; brother, John McDermott, Prescott Valley, AZ.; nephews, Rick (Dolly) Loomis, Dunnesville, Va., Scott (Lydia) Walrath, Milan.; nieces, Sue (Tony) Catino, Manassas. Va. and Melissa (Wayne) Beeman, Milan. He was predeceased by sister, Patricia Loomis, and sister-in-law, Gail Walrath. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Monetary donations may be made to the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 10, East Smithfield, PA 18817, for the AWANA and VBS programs. Those wishing to leave a note to the family may do so at [email protected] Captain Walter E. (Gene) Wilber, United States Navy (retired) – Gene Wilber entered into eternal rest on July 8, 2015. He completed a swift and courageous battle with brain cancer at his home under the care of his family.
Gene was born at Mt. Pisgah (East Troy, Pennsylvania) on January 17, 1930, the second son of Herbert Elwyn and Myra Losey Wilber. Gene was predeceased by his parents, and by his younger brother, Richard. He is survived by his wife of 62 and one half years, Jeanne Ayers Wilber. Mahlon R. "Bill" Wrisley, 80, Troy, Pa., passed away on, July 5, 2015.
He was born on Feb. 28, 1935 in Burlington Township, a son of the late Mahlon L. and Ruth Harkness Wrisley. Bill was a farmer for most of his life and enjoyed doing construction in his later years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bill loved square dancing with his wife. He enjoyed woodworking and bowling in his league. He was preceded in death by great-granddaughter Kirsten Wrisley; brothers Russell Wrisley, Duane Wrisley, and Stuart Wrisley; sisters Eloise Likewise, Ophelia Ayres, Gladys Jerome; and twin sister Marilyn Pepper, Carol A. Sickler Wright, 65, of Towanda, Pa., Ulster Township, passed away July 3, 2015 at her home following declining health.
Carol was born in Elmira, N.Y. on July 3, 1950, one of 15 children born to Corey Victor Sickler and Harriet Gromes Sickler. She was a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School class of 1968. In early years Carol was employed as a seamstress in garment manufacturing and was later employed by the Wolfe Poultry Farm in East Smithfield, P&C Market in Athens and by the Dandy Mini Mart in Wilawana for a number of years until her retirement. Carol loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, traveling, camping and sewing as she was a gifted seamstress. On the evening of June 16th, 2015, Alice Jane Williams of Lock Haven passed away quietly at Manor Care in Jersey Shore. She was 67 years of age. Born in Roaring Branch January 27th, 1948, she was the daughter of Lewis A. and Gladys (Freeman) Williams. Alice was devoted to her parents, looking and keeping house for them. She enjoyed picnics and visits with her family. She loved to talk and laugh, and was a big fan of traditional Irish music. She was also known for being a talented artist. Of paramount importance in her life was her faith in the Lord. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and drew strength from reading the Scriptures each day.
![]() Fred M. Wilcox, 75, Canton, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor. On December 1, 1939, Fred Milton Wilcox was born at the family’s dairy farm in LeRoy Township. He was a son of the late Wilber M. and Dorothy “Leona” (Buck) Wilcox. Fred was a 1958 graduate of Canton High School. He married the former Judy Jenkins on May 5, 1959 in Troy. They shared 56 wonderful years together and raised three children. Fred was a kind and supportive person who loved his family, their wellbeing always came first. Anyone who knew Fred’s work ethic knew he was never one to shirk from a difficult job. For many years he was employed by Canton’s Bellows Valvair Co. and became a shop foreman. Bryan Keith Wilcox, 54, passed away, September 24, 2014, beloved son, brother and father to James Wilcox, Kirk Wilcox, Lisa Seeley and Shawn Wilcox.
The family will be holding a memorial service May 22, 2015 at the St. John's United Methodist Church in Grover, PA at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to attend. Bryan was a kind and giving person who will be missed by many. A private graveside service will be held immediately following the memorial service. Janice (Van Horn) Wrisley, 95, West Burlington, PA, passed away at her home, May 16, 2015. She was the loving wife of the late E.J. Wrisley who passed away October 8, 1974. The couple married April 20, 1941 and had 33 happy years together.
Janice was born on March 2, 1920 in East Troy, PA, daughter of the late Luther and Leota (Baxter) Van Horn. She was a 1937 graduate of Troy High School and for many years was the secretary for both Wrisley Excavating and Wrisley Construction. Janice was a member of the West Burlington United Methodist Church, the church’s Methodist Women’s group, and enjoyed knitting and homemaking. On Thursday, March 26th, 2015, James Edward Wesneski of Troy passed away quietly at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy illness. He was 69 years of age.
Known to family and friends as “Edgie,” he was born in Blossburg September 10th, 1945, and was the son of Charles and Helen (Page) Wesneski. He was raised in Gleason (Union Twp.), and attended Canton Area High School. |
