Communicating a strong message through a piece of art has its challenges. However, an interpretation can also bring a deepness that consumes an onlooker’s soul. Add in an artist’s statement, it will amplify the experience to understanding the cry of the artist’s heart. Jesilyn’s artwork and statement brings a rich mixture of passion and personal aesthetic. Jesilyn writes, “It may be the only means to tears are how our heart speaks, when our lips simply cannot find the words to describe the pain we feel and the joy we experience. If the heart is the strongest muscle, then why does it break so easily?” Jesilyn’s artwork was completed with craft sticks, feathers, acrylic paint, and glue. |
![]() Clayton composed his painting using a viewfinder to isolate his subject. His approach parallels that of Georgia ‘O Keeffe and her approach as she would enlarge a section of her subject. Clayton enhanced specific shapes, lines, and colors to create an accentual harmony of vibrancy. Clayton’s interaction with the art materials reveals a very real artistic contemplations through his ability to stretch the properties of painting to its limits. Clayton’s artwork was created using watercolors and black crayon. Canton Elementary School Collecting Box Tops and District Will Participate in TOPS Market Bonus Plus8/27/2015
The Canton Elementary School will once again be collecting Box TOPS for Education which can be found and numerous food items.
Also the district is asking you to register your Tops BonusPlus or BonusCard on-line at www.topsmarkets.com/education and selecting Canton Area School District as your school of choice. Then, when you purchase participating products, Tops Markets will contribute a percentage to the school. Please note: If you registered last year you will need to re-register again this year for our schools to get the benefits. All students must be in school by 8:18. Students will report to homeroom at 7:55. Those who go to breakfast will check in with their teacher and then report to breakfast. Breakfast is served from 7:55 - 8:15. We ask that parents make every effort to ensure that students DO NOT arrive before 7:55 AM. Supervision is not available until then. Any student arriving after 8:18 will be considered tardy. • DISMISSAL TIMES Elementary Students will be dismissed as follows – Walkers at 3:10 and Bus Students at 3:15. High School Students will be dismissed at 3:25. • DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP STUDENTS Parents who are picking up and dropping off students in the morning or at dismissal are to pull into the playground (by the gym). Note - Parents needing to park their car before 8:20 am MUST park in the upper lot. The Canton Area School District would like to announce that we have qualified for a federal incentive which allows the district to provide a free breakfast and lunch to every student in the school district. As a result, residents of the Canton Area School District no longer need to fill out a Free and Reduced Application. Please be advised that to qualify as a free meal, it must meet the guidelines of a normal reimbursable meal (3 of the 5, an entrée, a grain, vegetable, fruit and milk (minimum of 1 fruit or vegetable)). This program allows each student to have one qualified meal for breakfast and one for lunch. Any additional lunches or ala carte (snacks) can be purchased through your child’s cafeteria account. If you have any questions on what makes up the reimbursable meals more information can be found on the cafeteria web page or on your child’s breakfast and lunch menu. Statistics show that students who eat breakfast have better mental and physical performance throughout the day. We hope you will encourage your child to participate in the breakfast program as well as the lunch program. Seventh Grade
