For 22 years, Wendy's, in partnership with the Heisman Memorial Trophy®, has recognized outstanding students and rewarded their commitment and achievements to academics, athletics and community on a national level.
Binford was selected as 2015 School Winners based on the following accomplishments:
• Collin Binford is the son of Patricia and Tyrone Binford. Collin has been a varsity starter in soccer, wrestling, and baseball since his freshmen year. In his senior year, he has been playing soccer along with being the kicker and a tailback of the Troy football team. Outside of sports, he holds many leadership roles. He is the 2016 Class President,
President of the National Honor Society, and President of the Lettermen's club. As of now he is currently ranked top of his class in academics. He is a member of the New Life Church and is an active member of their Vertical Youth Group. Collin's future plans are to attend college for Mechanical Engineering.
The next announcement, November 2, will include the names of the State Finalists selected from every state and the District of Columbia. Following the State Finalists' announcement, the names of the two State Winners, one male and one female, will be revealed before the field is narrowed down to 10
National Finalists. The 10 National Finalists, five males and live females, and their families will receive an all-expense paid trip to New York City to attend the Wendy's High School Heisman Award Ceremony and the announcement of the two National Winners.
