An audition will be held for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of “The Jungle Book,” Monday, February 23 in the Nelle Black Westgate Auditorium, from 4 pm to 6 pm. Those auditioning should arrive at 3:45 pm, and plan to stay until 6 pm. Some cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.
At the regular meeting of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, President Krystle Bristol welcomed over 26 business representatives. She was delighted that so many were in attendance.
After the minutes and treasurer's reports were given and approved, Robyn Chamberlain gave a report on the membership committee. She requested that plaques be funded for new members. The group passed the motion for the additional funds, which will be taken from the budget. Once again the churches of Troy are inviting you to come together during the Lenten season.
For seven Wednesdays beginning on Feb. 18th (Ash Wednesday) area churches will meet at Troy Baptist Church. You are not alone as you grieve the loss of a loved one. GriefShare meetings, held Tuesdays from 7:00 – 8:30 PM at the Canton Mennonite Church are facilitated by those who have experienced grief and offer you a listening-based approach as you learn how to deal with grief in your own manner. Each person is on a different journey in their grieving.
On February 18th, churches within the community will host Ash Wednesday services, for individuals to participate in the first day of the Lenten Journey.
National Weather Service and Bradford County Emergency The National Weather Service in Binghamton issued a hazardous weather outlook for Thursday, February 12 through Monday, February 16. Bitterly cold arctic air is expected to move into the area Thursday night. Low temperatures Friday morning through the weekend will drop to below zero, without a wind chill. Saturday will likely be the warmest day over the weekend with highs in the teens. A reinforcing shot of cold air will then move in Sunday with high temperatures in the low single digits.
The Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) of Canton with Rev. Bonnie Browning, host minister/tour leader will be sponsoring a trip to New York City, New York to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the World Trade Center Memorial.

The icy conditions and freezing rain on Monday morning, February 9 not only led to the cancellation of schools and the closing (or delayed openings) of several businesses, cancelled appointments, etc. but also led to several motor vehicle accidents.
A pickup truck slid and bumped into a house on Lower Mountain Road; a car spun crosswise on Lake Hill Road; a water truck went off the highway near Van Fleet Road; and a vehicle was unable to make the Upper Mountain Road and slid back into Troy Street. No serious injuries were reported. |
