The Canton Area Chamber of Commerce held its September meeting at First Citizens Community Bank with President Eric Schoonover conducting the meeting. In keeping with the recent rotation of morning and noon meetings, today's meeting began at 8:30 am.
Members reported news: Sweet Tooth is starting work on "Small Business Saturday" and will have a booth at the Apple 'n Cheese Festival for the first time. Chemung Canal Trust Co. manager Kim Bailey will be among those in a "mock jail" on September 19 to raise funds for breast cancer research. The VIA is starting its new meeting year. Normally the group does not meet over summer but next year will not meet in January or February. The Housing Authority is planning a nutrition event at McCallum Manor. The Wells-Jackson Lions Club is sponsoring a chicken-and-biscuits dinner on Friday, September 18, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the Millerton Wesleyan Church, 5174 Main Street, Millerton, PA. This dinner is for the benefit of our community and is open to the public. The cost of $8.00 and $7.50 for children and seniors includes beverage and dessert. Take-outs are available.
![]() Kyra created a piece of art that mirrors the approach by Joan Miro and his balancing of spontaneity and automatism. Kyra created a composition with recognizable forms juxtaposed with basic shapes and lines. Kyra’s ability to create a representational piece of art along with a strong level of abstraction is amazing. Kyra’s artwork was created using watercolors and marker. The Bradford County Heritage Association held its monthly Board Meeting August 19, 2015 at the Heritage Village and Farm Museum. Attending were: Margaret Winder, Bonnie & Gary Pierce, Connie Boyles, Babs Morris, Joanadele Collins, Deb Lutz, Janet Ordway, Barb Barrett, Walt Whittie and Dale Palmer.

Old business: Day of Caring application; Annual Meeting– Saturday Sept 19, 2015 5:30 PM in the 4H Building on the Troy Fair Grounds, public is invited; Upcoming 2016 mandatory background checks for volunteers helping with the ‘Farm Day’s 1866’ program; Fair week went well, the Museum was open an additional 2 days, 53 visitors plus one tour of 71 people; The Guthrie post-concussion support group for athletes and their families will hold its next meeting, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. in the 4 Blue Conference Room located on the fourth floor of the Guthrie Medical Group in Sayre. The meeting is free and open to the public.
This month’s guest speaker is Jeffery Pelachick. While playing football in high school, he sustained multiple concussions. Now majoring in Secondary Education at Mansfield University, Pelachick will talk about his injuries, and what it is like being a survivor of numerous concussions. The group offers support to athletes, and their families, who are dealing with sports related post-concussion syndrome and those who have been forced to stop playing sports or working because of repeated concussions. Guthrie is pleased to announce Staci Covey, RN, MSN as the new President of Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital. Covey replaces outgoing President Bill Rohrbach.
Covey assumes this position alongside her roles as President of Guthrie Troy Community Hospital and as Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Care. The Troy Chamber of Commerce met at 1110 West Restaurant, Troy for their monthly meeting, September 2.
After President Krystle Bristol brought the meeting to order, she went over several events which are coming up. So far paid members with a goal of 100 are doing well; first time members goal is 20; and 2015 plaques and stickers are available. Troy High School's Class of 1958 is having a picnic on Saturday, September 26th, 2015 at 1 PM at Jan Kellogg's home in East Smithfield. It will be held rain or shine. Please bring a dish to pass.
