Jay Preston, formerly of Canton, is a member of the Band "Esta Coda", which plays in the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Area and the band and Jay himself has been nominated for the a Steamtown Music Award.

That’s when the Steamtown Music Awards return for its second wind. ![]() On July 22, Matt Carl gave a presentation on "Interesting People of Bradford County". Mr. Carl and Librarian, Cathy Golder, hold a copy of Bradford County Historical Markers & Monuments, the latest publication from the Bradford County Historical Society. The booklet is available at the Green Free Library, Canton; the LeRoy Heritage Museum, LeRoy and the Bradford County Historical Society, Towanda. Local Historian Matt Carl gave a presentation on "Interesting People of Bradford County" on July 22 at the Canton Green Free Library. Mr. Carl said that his talk used material from the LeRoy Heritage Museum and the Bradford County Historical Society.
Mr. Carl provided insights into many historical figures from Bradford County, some very well-known and others more obscure. He provided tidbits on these "Interesting People": • Charles Carroll of Carrolton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, once owned over 1,000 acres in Bradford County, including Tioga Point and Athens. His daughter Polly oversaw his land holdings here. • Thomas Hartley and John Sullivan. American officers who Mr. Carl said were responsible for "wiping out the Native Americans" in Bradford County. Col. Hartley and his men defeated Warriors from the Six Nations near Cedar Ledge on September 26, 1778. General John Sullivan marched through much of the county in 1779 ending the Indian threat in the county. The ‘Heritage Village and Museum’ in Troy 2015 theme ‘A Glimpse into the Past of Bradford County’s Timber Industry’ by Dave Lennington’ The Bradford County Heritage Association is pleased to present a series of articles researched and prepared by Dave Lennington highlighting Bradford County’s lumber and related industries. The ‘Heritage Village and Museum is open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 9 AM to 4 PM, Sundays 1PM to 4 PM. The Pennsylvania Heritage will be held September 19 & 20, 2015 on the grounds of The Heritage Village & Museum, Troy PA. A cooperative effort of the Bradford County Heritage Association and the Troy Rotary Club. This year the event will highlight the Museum’s 2015 Timber Theme.

Proud Supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project - American Tribute I – 7:30 p.m., Mansfield University’s Steadman Theatre – The Festival Symphony Orchestra will perform “Let the River be Unbroken” with its composer George Tsontakis serving as a narrator and present the world premiere of “Suite No. 1 for Bandoneon and Orchestra” with its composer Emmanuel Trifilio on bandoneon, Cristian Perez, guitar and Lukasz Szyrner, cello. Selections by two other composers will also be performed.
A Taste of the Endless Mountains to Return in October
The 2015 growing season is in full swing, and local agricultural producers are bringing a bounty of fresh vegetables, fruits and handmade crafts to a farmers market near you. Members of Northern Tier Buy Fresh Buy Local (NTBFBL) are anxious to get the word out about the many locations where their products are available, as well as direct marketing options.
