Rep. Matt Baker (R-Bradford/Tioga) is inviting area senior citizens to a senior expo he is hosting on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wellsboro Area High School, 225 Nichols St. in Wellsboro.
The event will feature dozens of state and local agencies, area businesses and health organizations providing information and answering questions important to senior citizens. Walmart and Sam's Club stores recently wrapped up a six-week campaign to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country. Arnot Health partnered with five Walmart stores and one Sam’s Club to raise $58,000 in our region. Arnot Ogden Medical Center will use the funds to purchase life saving equipment and support neonatal and pediatric services. Together, Arnot Health, Walmart and Sam’s Club stores hosted a variety of fundraising activities such as bake sales, Mother’s Day activities, barbeques to help make this campaign an outstanding success. “We are so grateful to Walmart and Sam’s club’s associates, members and customers for the commitment they have made to the children in our community,” said Alene Goodman of Children’s Miracle Network at Arnot Health. In case you’re wondering, this is pointing to 103 N. Center St.—the current downtown Canton meeting place of Faith Mountain Fellowship. The Armenia Township board of supervisors met at the Township building on July 9 with Supervisors Chad Harwick, Steve Harris and Wayne Morgan; Secretary Mallory Babcock, Treasurer Gary Horning, and an audience of seven.
Two positive comments were received from the public concerning the condition of the roads. Dan Bastion stated Alba Road was well worked and also wanted to thank Mr. Morgan for all the hours he has worked on the roads. Chuck Babcock thanked the Township for the work done on Scott Road, and feels it is the best he has ever seen it. The minutes of the July meeting: were accepted.
