![]() The Northeast Region of the PA Game Commission has gained six new Wildlife Conservation Officers. The officers are recent graduates of the 30th cadet class of the Game Commission’s Ross Leffler School of Conservation in Harrisburg. Their hometowns and their new assignments are: Blake Barth, Lock Haven (western Bradford Co); Michael College, Altoona (Montour Co); Michael Goodenow Jr., Athens (northeastern Bradford Co); Eric Kelly,Clifton Township (southeastern Bradford Co); Benjamin Rebuck, Sunbury (southern Susquehanna Co; and Jared Turner, Bristol (northern Lackawanna Co). ![]() Wm. Alan Shaw filed his nomination petition for Judge of Bradford County Court of Common Pleas at the Pennsylvania Department of State this week. Attorney Shaw was required to obtain at least 250 signatures to be eligible to be placed on the ballot. Shaw obtained more than enough signatures from Bradford County voters to be placed on both the Republican and Democratic ballots for the May 19, 2015 primary election. Next, Attorney Shaw will be given the opportunity to draw a number to determine his position on the primary ballot. The candidate who draws the lower number receives the higher position on the primary ballot. Attorney Shaw has more than 27 years of experience in law practice. He currently practices law at Landy & Rossettie (formerly Landy & Landy). Alan’s long-time colleague, Attorney Joseph Landy, states, “Alan has always been a diligent and fair-minded lawyer. (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter) The recently unveiled 2015-16 budget proposal by Gov. Tom Wolf represents the largest tax increase proposal in the history of Pennsylvania. It would be a $4.7 billion tax hike, which is a 16 percent increase over this year’s budget, for a total of $33.8 billion in spending. I strongly oppose this unprecedented and massive tax-and-spend plan that would hurt so many working families struggling to pay their bills and provide for their families. Geek of the Week: Bradford County Library Bookmobile Users- We geek “bookmobiles”
The Bradford County Library Bookmobile makes a total of 58 stops all throughout the county. From Wyalusing to Millerton, from Canton to Warren Center the bookmobile travels to all four corners of the county and numerous spots in between. The demand for library services in rural settings has increased dramatically since the founding of the Bookmobile in 1941. Bradford County Commissioners ordered all flags at county buildings lowered to half-staff, Tuesday March 10, 2015 in honor of Tom Fairchild who passed away on March 5, 2015, at the age of 92. The Commissioners office stated, "We honor Tom as a veteran and POW as well as his service to the county. Tom served eight years as Bradford County Treasurer and sixteen years as Bradford County Sheriff.
