The SR-71 Spy Plane was the stuff of myth before its existence was ever confirmed by the US military. One of the first planes to employ stealth technology, it heralded a new era for strategic reconnaissance aircraft. It has held a world speed record since 1976. Many call it "the Blackbird," but Valley resident Bill Miller calls it "the most beautiful airplane I've ever seen." Miller worked directly with the SR-71 spy plane from 1965 to 1972, and has personally experienced a Mach-3 flight. The Spalding Memorial Library invites you to hear his first-hand account of working with the legendary spy plane on Thursday, July 30th at 6:30 p.m.
