The Troy High School Alumni Reception will be held on Friday evening, May 22, 2015, at the Troy Memorial Auditorium, High and King Streets in Troy. This marks the 119th anniversary of this event.
The evening begins at 5:30 with registration and a light buffet. The Program starts at 6. A reception follows the program. Troy TOPS #986 met April 20 at the Troy Vets Club with thirteen members weighing in. There was a total loss of 8 3/4 pounds for TOPS and 1 1/4 for KOPS.
Top TOPS was Valerie with 2 3/4 lbs. and the top KOPS was Julie with 1 1/4 lb. The runner-up was Jeanie with 2 1/4 pounds. The fruit basket was shared by Julia and Valerie. Betty was the menu winner and Marilyn won the quarter game. This is Your Week winner was Julia. Challenge for the week is no processed foods. The three Xs were drawn by Betty, Val and BB. There were three turtles. The meeting was closed with the "Helping Hands" verse. Anyone interested in TOPS Club may contact any club member. The Club will be playing bingo next week. Residents living in and around the Troy, can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. First United Methodist Church, 205 Redington Ave, will host this community event on 5/9/2015.

On Saturday, start your morning off with a great breakfast, which is served all day and of course features maple syrup. Then you can walk to the antique tractor display in the field; watch the horse trail challenge and the Wild and Crazy Game Show Challenge. At a recent meeting/luncheon for volunteers at the Bradford Heritage Museum in Troy, Barbara Barrett, conducted the meeting noted that handmade items are needed for the gift shop. She said that they could be donated or the museum will take them on consignment.
She thanked Coppertree for their donation and noted that the theme this year is Timber. Since the theme is timber, they have sent for and received four boxes of Lincoln Logs. These kits are not quite like the old ones. It seems that they lack imagination. The baseball bat company is closing and they donated several items to the museum. Several members were thanked for their donations of items, time, and talents. The Troy Lions recently donated $2,000 to the Troy Swimming Pool to help with the cost of replacing their chlorine delivery system. • Animal Care Sanctuary’s golf tournament will be held on May 8th at Corey Creek Golf Course in Mansfield, PA. Also, the Mutt Strut will be held May 16th from 10am-3pm at Riverfront Park in Sayre, PA. Details for both events can be found at www.animalcaresanctuary.org Troy Borough Manager Dan Close has scheduled the following dates with NTSWA for street sweeping in Troy Borough. Street sweeping is generally completed between 4 am and 8 am to avoid higher traffic volume. Dates may be adjusted to better fit NTSWA’s schedule or for weather conditions at NTSWA’s discretion. These dates are also listed on the Troy Borough website calendar.
Routes 6 & 14 were scheduled to be done on April 15. These streets are scheduled: May 13 & 14 – Side Streets May 27 – Routes 6 & 14 July 1 – Routes 6 & 14 August 19 – Routes 6 & 14 Sept. 16 & 17 – Side Streets Sept. 30 – Routes 6 & 14 Spring clean up for boro residents began April 21, 2015 and continue until May 26, 2015 with pickup being on Tuesdays only.
Bagged leaves and naturally fallen bundled branches that can be handled by one person will be picked up by boro employees when put by the curbside. Note: only items listed above will be picked up and only when left at curbside. This is for lawn debris only, not cut down trees, garden clean out, garbage, etc. Also: the Troy Borough property on Farmers Valley Road will be open on Saturday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 23rd, from 1 pm-3 pm for receipt of larger branches, limbs and natural debris not picked up by the borough. No trash will be accepted. This is for compostable leaves and limbs only. There will be no exceptions! |
