The Troy Thursday Study Club met April 16th at the Troy Baptist Church with 30 members and 2 guests present. The group enjoyed a time of conversation followed with refreshments prepared and served by the Refreshment committee; Cynthia Eckert, Marilyn Bohlayer, Louise Williams, Barbara Zaleskie, and Linda Nickerson. Doris Saxton was the hostess.

The Heritage Museum in Troy is seeking funds to move the Doctor's office to Alparon Park. This is an edited version of an article was written by Ruth Campbell Summers. Since he left no diaries, no collection of letters, nothing but old stained ledgers and a memo or two of old political campaigns. I could write only of events as I recall them or as they were related to me some time ago. I could not write with the perspective of a third person for I could not portray his personality and work as a country doctor without drawing upon my own personal experiences, the life of our family and that of the community so inextricably woven into the pattern of his life. Troy Borough Manager Dan Close has scheduled the following dates with NTSWA for street sweeping in Troy Borough. Street sweeping is generally completed between 4 am and 8 am to avoid higher traffic volume. Dates may be adjusted to better fit NTSWA’s schedule or for weather conditions at NTSWA’s discretion. These dates are also listed on the Troy Borough website calendar.
Routes 6 & 14 were scheduled to be done on April 15. These streets are scheduled: May 13 & 14 – Side Streets May 27 – Routes 6 & 14 July 1 – Routes 6 & 14 August 19 – Routes 6 & 14 Sept. 16 & 17 – Side Streets Sept. 30 – Routes 6 & 14 Spring clean up for boro residents began April 21, 2015 and continue until May 26, 2015 with pickup being on Tuesdays only.
Bagged leaves and naturally fallen bundled branches that can be handled by one person will be picked up by boro employees when put by the curbside. Note: only items listed above will be picked up and only when left at curbside. This is for lawn debris only, not cut down trees, garden clean out, garbage, etc. Also: the Troy Borough property on Farmers Valley Road will be open on Saturday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 23rd, from 1 pm-3 pm for receipt of larger branches, limbs and natural debris not picked up by the borough. No trash will be accepted. This is for compostable leaves and limbs only. There will be no exceptions! Troy TOPS #986 met on April 27 at the Troy Vets Club with seventeen members weighing in.
There was a total loss of 12 pounds, with 3/4 lb. for KOPS. Top TOPS were Lacy and Jeff, each with three pounds, and the top KOPS was Betty with 3/4 lb. Runner-up was Brenda with 2 1/2 lb. The fruit basket was shared by Betty and Lacy. Residents living in and around Troy, can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. First United Methodist Church, 205 Redington Ave, will host this community event on 5/9/2015.
Screenings can check for: In summer months, the Pennsylvania State Police engage in an annual school bus inspection campaign as required under the PA Vehicle Code. The campaign includes inspection of any and all school buses and multi-function school activity buses which engage in the transportation of school age children. This inspection is in addition to the semi-annual state garage inspection required for all commercial motor vehicles.
