During the fall semester, the Festival Chorus will perform in the annual Choral Collage in Steadman Theatre on Sunday, October 25 and the annual holiday choral concerts on December 4, 5 and 6.
Area singers are invited to join the Mansfield University Festival Chorus for the 2015-16 season. The Chorus, directed by Peggy Dettwiler, will meet on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. in Steadman Theatre which began, August 25.

The Pennsylvania WoodMobile is a traveling exhibit that provides information on the state’s forest resource and the state’s forest products industry. Patrons to the exhibit will see how the forests of Pennsylvania have shaped the history of the state and nation, learn how today’s forest differs from 100 years ago, touch the various hardwood species produced in Pennsylvania and see how deer impact today’s forest.
The Heritage Garden club held their August 2015 meeting on the 3rd at Mary Alice Bower’s beautiful home and gardens. The evening began with a tour of Mary Alice’s lovely gardens. Our club’s members’ attention was drawn quickly to one particular flower in full bloom! See the picture! This dazzling purple Iris is in full bloom in August when most are blooming in the spring.
Hostess Mary Alice presented an educational program on Milkweed Treasures. She provided dried milkweed seed pod shells, paint, glitter and glue in which everyone was instructed how to make decorative bird ornaments from seed pods. After the birds were made, President Barb Andrus called the business meeting to order with a pledge of allegiance to the flag. There were 8 members present. Taylor Johnston, of Troy, is being recognized as one of the first-year scholarship recipients of the Lebanon Valley College class of 2019. Johnston, a graduate of Troy Senior High School, plans to study psychology at The Valley. Among the incoming class of 457 students, 63 percent rank in the top 30 percent of their high school class; 7 students were valedictorians; 51 percent of students earned a scholarship worth half-tuition; and six students received the full-tuition Allwein Scholarship. Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa., welcomes 1,573 full-time undergraduates studying more than 30 challenging and sophisticated majors. The Auxiliary at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital wishes to thank all the volunteers, performers and businesses that took part in their recent ‘Concert on the Green’.
A large crowd came along to the annual concert and ice cream social which saw performances by local singers Ike Bowers and Lynn Moyer. Concert goers enjoyed hot dogs and sloppy joes, as well as homemade pies and ice cream. Arnot Health invites individuals interested in Bariatric Surgery to attend a free seminar on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 6–7 p.m. at Arnot Medical Services, 45 Mud Creek Road in Troy, PA. Subramanian Sadhasivam, MD, general and bariatric surgeon with Arnot Health, will present information about the procedures available, which are performed on the stomach and/or intestines to help a person lose weight, thereby reducing the person’s risk of other health issues. Attendees will also learn about eligibility for bariatric surgery, how to prepare, and how to pay for these life-changing procedures. Unlike many weight loss programs or diets, most patients who undergo bariatric surgery lose 40 to 70 percent of their excess weight and keep it off long-term if they commit to lifelong behavioral changes in areas including nutrition, exercise, and stress management that are essential to a healthy lifestyle. Troy's and Canton's "Hometown Heroes" banner programs began in 2014, and many other area communities have programs of their own, including Lock Haven.
Dr, Jason Madigan, a 1993 graduate of Troy High School, was Master of Ceremonies for the 2015 Lock Haven Hometown Heroes Banner program. Dr. Madigan operates his chiropractic and rehabilitation facility, "Sport and Spine Chiropractic Rehab" in Lock Haven. Before then he worked at a clinic in Williamsport. Troy TOPS #986 met on August 10th at the Troy Vets Club with fourteen members weighing in. There was a total loss of 7 3/4 pounds. The best TOPS loser was MaryLou with two pounds lost. Top KOPS member loser was Betty with a loss of 1 3/4 pounds.
The fruit basket was shared by Betty and Brenda. The three x's were drawn by Betty, Joyce, and Rose Marie. This Is Your Week runner up was Charlotte. The No-No food is soda. The Yes-Yes is to double your fruits and veggies. The Troy Town Band will present their second summer concert on Thursday, August 13 at 7 pm at the Troy Area High School Memorial Auditorium. The band will be under the direction of Mr. Ted Bown.
Troy Borough has scheduled the following dates for street sweeping. Street sweeping is generally completed between 4 am and 8 am to avoid higher traffic volume. Dates may be adjusted to better fit NTSWA’s schedule or for weather conditions at NTSWA’s discretion:
