Christopher Kerns, 53, Linden PA, was killed when the Dodge Caravan he was driving went out of control on a curve and left the roadbed of Route 14 near its intersection with Leonards Road.

A stray cat that was having food put out for it started walking in circles. It was brought to a veterinary clinic where it was submitted for rabies testing. The Canton Community Nursing Service/Canton Foundation has been in existence since November 1996 and since that time they have been operating as a foundation to dispense funds to non-profit groups in Canton Borough and Canton Township. Last year grants were awarded to: BCRAC/Rialto Theatre; Missoula Children's Theatre, Canton Civic Club Hallween Parade, Green Free Library, Canton Borough, Rekindle the Spirt, Inc., Canton Community Council, Inc, and Canton Area Chamber of Commerce. On July 10 an open house was held at the Albavale Farms, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Herman and family.
Residents were invited to come out and see the use of solar energy as the Hermans had contracted Paradise Energy Solution to place solar panels on their barns. On July 9 the Troy Summer Speaker Series honored four Community Leaders (Robert Storch, Scott Cummings, Bud Kennedy, Jerry Allen, and Bud Kennedy for contributions to the Troy Lions and the Troy Rotary and to their community.

These days $7 doesn’t buy a lot in the way of entertainment lasting all day long unless that entertainment is at the Tioga County Fair. From August 10th through August 15th, for a mere $7 admission fee, one can experience a bounty of exhibits, displays and shows, from home-grown produce and hand-made crafts to livestock and music, fireworks, a hypnotist act, even women throwing axes and wielding chainsaws for the thrill of competition, all as part of the free entertainment at the Tioga County Fair. For $35, the entertainment can span all 6 days of the Fair. That’s like getting admitted to the Fair an entire day for free. And as always, parking is Free every day!
