Everyone is invited to join the group of Trail Life members at the Mt. Pisgah State Park Lakeside Pavilion on Thursday, June 18th at 6:30. Mr. Tom Maloney will be giving a hand-on presentation about pollinators. He is the horticulture educator for the Penn State Extension Office with over 30 years experience serving the extension.
Troy TOPS #986 met on June 8th at the Troy Vets Club with weigh-in. Top TOPS loser was BB and top KOPS was Julia.
The fruit basket was shared by BB and Julia. The Quarter game winner was MaryLou. This is You Week winner was Lacey. Runner up was Lacey #2. The No-No food is salty food. The Yes-Yes food is salads. The Wellsboro community is inviting the public to join in the week long Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival celebration Saturday, June 13 through Sunday, June 21. This family-friendly event includes the Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen competition.
The Troy Town Band will present their first summer concert on Thursday, June 25 at 7 pm at the Troy Area High School Memorial Auditorium. The band will be under the direction of. Robert Oldroyd.
Mr. Oldroyd is a native of Troy. He graduated from the Ithaca College School of Music, summa cum laude, with a degree in Music Education and Horn Performance. Mr. Oldroyd actively participated in many performance ensembles at the college and was the founding conductor of the IC Harmoniemusik and the IC Sightreading Band. Olivia Morse, Troy performed at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. with the 2015 National Christian Honor Band (NCHB). NCHB was one of four bands featured at The John Philip Sousa Band Festival on Sunday, May 31, 2015. The band was comprised of 100 auditioned high school, college and adult musicians from throughout the U.S. The Greatbatch School of Music at Houghton College and the Horton School of Music at Charleston Southern University co-sponsored the band. In addition to the performance at The Kennedy Center, the band performed at the Martin Luther King Memorial and at an Armed Forces Retirement Home for retired military veterans. The band worked with Festival Clinician, Anthony Maiello at George Mason University and enjoyed a variety of sightseeing opportunities in Washington D.C. during their 4-day tour. Olivia is a member of the Houghton Wind Ensemble and is a Biology major at Houghton College, Houghton, NY. Troy Borough Council held its May meeting with Vice-President Jennifer Malehorn and Councilmembers Kyle Wisel, Jim Warn and Mark Colton. Manager Dan Close, Mayor Mike Powers and Police Chief Dan Morelli. There was an audience of three.
Mrs. Malehorn presided over the meeting as Council President Krystle Bristol announced her resignation last month. The resignation resulted from Mrs. Bristol’s appointment as Bradford County Auditor, a position considered legally incompatible with a Council seat. Troy TOPS #986 met at May 26 at the Troy Vets Club with fourteen members weighing in, Because of the Memorial Day holiday there was a weigh-in only. Jim B. was the top TOPS and Betty was top KOPS.
Troy TOPS #986 met on June 1 at the Vets Club with nineteen members weighing in. The Fine Arts Council of Troy met at the Zander Gallery in Alparon Park, Troy, PA on Tuesday, May 12. `President Melody Lewis reported that sponsorships have been found for all the Youth and Teen categories for the Fair Art Show, as well as the prize for Best in Show and several of the Adult categories. Generous contributions to the scholarship fund in memory of Douglas Heavlow have come in. The club thanks all of his friends who have so graciously taken this way to honor his life and art. The Troy Thursday Study Club met on May 21, 2015 at the Troy Presbyterian Church with 27 members and 2 guests present. The group enjoyed a social time followed by refreshments prepared and served by the Refreshment committee - Maureen Peterson, Annis Gustin, June Bulhman, Yalonda Pick, and Linda Nickerson. Fran Gardiner was the hostess.
